RAPP Kidz Club has a New Home!

The Relatives as Parents Kidz Club will now meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 6-8pm at Ulster County Community Action (175 Colonial Drive, Kingston, NY). It is open to any child who is being raised by a relative in Ulster County.

Preregistration for each session is required so that we can have a sufficient number of staff, and spaces are on a first come-first served basis.

Caregivers do not need to stay during the program, but are invited to join us for the Adult Caregiver Coffee and Conversation Group that meets at the same time.

For more information, call Erica Smith 340-3990.

Kingston Coffee and Conversation Group for Relative Caregivers has a New Home

The Coffee and Conversation group for relative caregivers (grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings) will now meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 6-8pm at Ulster Community Action/Head Start in Kingston (175 Colonial Drive, Kingston, NY). This is a beautiful facility, fully handicapped accessible, with an outdoor play area for the children. We appreciate Ulster County Community Action for allowing us to meet here.

The Coffee and Conversation group provides an opportunity for anyone who is raising the child of a relative to meet with other people in the same situation. There is a program for children held at the same time at the site - preregistration is required for the children's program so that we have enough staff and activities for the children.

For information, please call Erica Smith at 340-3990.

Coffee and Conversation Group and Kidz Club in Kingston

The Ulster County RAPP will now be offering a free coffee and conversation group in Ulster County for any adult who is raising the child of a relative. The group offers a chance for the adult members of our program to meet with each other twice a month, without their children, to just relax and chat with each other.

The first session was held on June 16, 2008 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County, 10 Westbrook Lane, Kingston. Starting on July 7, 2008, the group will meet on every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 6 pm to 8 pm at a new location which will be announced soon. This new space will accommodate the wonderful growth we have experienced in membership for both the support group and the RAPP Kidz Club.

The RAPP Kidz club will now be held at the same time as the coffee and conversation group. This means that the RAPP Kidz club will now be on every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 6 pm to 8pm at the new location. This way, the children can accompany you to the meetings and will be able to enjoy their own activities while you meet with the other adults. We do plan to have a few activities for families to do together.

You do not need to register to attend the coffee and conversation group, but you must register your children in advance if they will be attending the RAPP Kidz Club meeting. This must be done no later then the Friday before to ensure we have enough supplies, snacks, and adults to help out for the number of children who will be attending. To register children, please contact Erica Smith or Barbara Grumberg at (845) 340-3990.

For more information about the RAPP Kidz Club or about the RAPP program, please call Erica Smith or Liz Higgins at 845-340-3990 or by e-mail at els235@cornell.edu.
